THE AD LIBITUM CHAMBER CHOIR OF THE QUART DE POBLET SCHOOL CHOIR IS PROCLAMATED WINNER OF THE IV FIRACOR AWARD OF THE 36 EDITION OF THE CHORAL CONTEST FIRA DE TOTS SANTS DE COCENTAINA.

on saturday 12 November, The Fira de Tots Sants de Cocentaina put an end to this edition of 2016 with the Choral Competition, an event that this year celebrated the IV Firacor Premi, where the winners of the last three editions competed with their voice for a single prize of 6.000 euros.
The level did not disappoint and one more year, The Contest showed the richness of choral singing, a contest to which for the first time in the history of the Contest, The President of the Generalitat attended, Ximo Puig who was impressed by the quality of the Contest. Ximo Puig could not attend the Fair, for scheduling reasons, but he was in this contest that closes the official programming.
The contest was presented by the journalist Maribel Vilaplana. The Ainur Chamber Choir of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (winner of the 1st Prize of the Contest in 2014) It was the first choir to intervene, followed by Grupo Vocal Komátika from Guadalajara (winner of the 1st Prize and the Audience Prize in the edition of 2013) and finally the Cor de Cambra Ad Libitum of l'Escola Coral de Quart de Poblet performed (winner of the 1st Prize and the Audience Prize in the last edition 2015). The three took risks with their repertoire and the occasion was no surprise., At stake was this extraordinary prize endowed with 6.000 euros.
The jury made up of ANA LUISA CHOVA RODRÍGUEZ, Professor of Singing at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Valencia, EDUARDO CIFRE GALLEGO, Emeritus Professor of Choral Conducting at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Valencia, JOSÉ VICENTE EGEA INSA, Professor and Director of the Band and Symphony Orchestra of the Superior Conservatory of Navarra, Principal Conductor of the Pamplona Municipal Band, Marco Antonio García de Paz, Director of the Golden Lion Choir, Chamber Music Teacher, Choir and Direction of the Eduardo Martínez Torner Higher Conservatory of Music in Oviedo, JOSEP VILA I CASAÑAS, Director of the Catalan Orfeó and the Palau de la Música Catalana Chamber Choir, Professor of Choral Conducting at the Higher School of Music of Catalonia and JOSEP ROBERT SELLÉS Y CAMPS, artistic director of the CCFTS and director of the Cor de Cambra Discantus and the Eduardo Torres de Albaida Vocal Group, as secretary, decided that the winning choir of the IV FIRACOR PREMI of the 36 edition of the Choral Competition outside the Cor de Cambra AdLibitum of l’Escola Coral de Quart de Poblet. The Audience Award endowed with 600 euros also went to the Cor de Cambra AdLibitum of the Escola Coral de Quart de Poblet.
During the deliberation of the jury's decision, the DOMISOL SISTER group acted. The proceeds obtained at the box office will be donated entirely to the AFAMA Cocentaina association..
Raul Belda, coordinator of the Choral Competition was proud of this new edition, “The level of the choirs has been very high and I think the public has enjoyed this edition. The Contest is possible thanks to the involvement of many public and private institutions, as well as the support of the Cocentaina City Council, of the Provincial Council of Alicante and the Generalitat Valenciana.
Roberto Juan, President of the Choral Contest thanked the President of the Generalitat Valenciana Ximo Puig for his presence at the event for his institutional support in this extraordinary edition and the entire municipal corporation of the Cocentaina City Council., Likewise, he announced that next year the 37 edition of the contest that begins the cycle that will culminate in 2020 with the V FIRACOR PREMI.
For your part, the mayoress of Cocentaina, Mireia Estepa also wanted to congratulate the Cor de Cambra Discantus for organizing this event, congratulating the winning choir and thanking the President of the Generalitat Ximo Puig for his attendance. Puig has reiterated the support of the Valencian Government for this Choral Competition that, in the words of the President, supposes “a window to culture, to the song, that has roots and projects it to the maximum”. In this sense, The head of the Consell has assured that if the Community can shine for something it is “for his appreciation of music, that is part of being Valencian”.
