last saturday 11 November was held 37 edition of the Fira de Tots Sants Choral Competition with the participation of the Youth Choir of the Torrevieja Choral School, the Young Choir of the City of Granada Orchestra and the Alaia Ensemble Women's Choir of Madrid, that closed the Fira de Tots Sants de Cocentaina with a very high musical level, becoming one more edition a national choral event of reference.
With this edition, the Choral Competition begins a new quadrennial cycle that will culminate with the V FIRACOR PREMI in the year 2020, that with the changes introduced in the contest rules, has been declared the winner, first time in the history of the contest, an all-female choir.
With the full capacity of the El Teular Cultural Center, The contest was led by Rubén Cervera and was chaired by authorities from local and regional public institutions..
The three choirs opened their performance with the obligatory work “Fira de Fires”, a composition by José Vte. Asensi about a poem by the protester José Miguel López.
The jury made up of Ana Luisa Chova Rodríguez, Eduardo Cifre Gallego, José Vicente Asensi Seva, Enrique Azurza Aramburu, José Herrero Cabrera and Josep Robert Sellés i Camps who acted as secretary of the jury, After listening to the participating choirs, they awarded the First Prize plus classification to participate in the V Premi Firacor in the year 2020 to the Alaia Ensemble Women's Choir of Madrid, the Second Prize for the Young Choir of the City of Granada Orchestra and the Third Prize for the Youth Choir of the Torrevieja Choral School. The Audience Award was awarded to the Young Choir of the City of Granada Orchestra.
Before proceeding to read the minutes, the Codo con Codo Company performed, presenting its theater-cinematic-musical show “El Xic de Chaplin.” Raúl Belda then intervened., Coordinator of the Contest who highlighted the recognition that the Choral Contest has achieved in favor of music and for the dissemination of choral music, especially music written in Valencian that, with the seal of the choral contest, enhances the Fira de Tots Sants. With a new intervention by the winning choir, the event closed. 37 Edition of the Certamen Coral Fira de Tots Sants, solidarity edition that gave its entire box office proceeds to SOLC, cancer patients association.
