This year our Contest becomes the NATIONAL GRAND PRIZE FOR CHORAL SINGING, so there has been no selection of participating choirs, and participate the winners in 2025 of the competitions that are part of the GRAND PRIX, competitions that represent the best choral competitions in Spain.

The Competition will take place on Saturday 7 November at 19 h In El Teular Cultural Center, of Cocentaina.

COR DE CAMBRA AMALTHEA

The Amalthea Chamber Choir was founded in Valencia in 1989 and, since then, has developed an outstanding career dedicated to the dissemination of chamber choral music. It was directed by Dulce Vila until 1996, by David Gálvez until 2014 and, since then, by its current director, Marta Marmol.

Throughout his career, Amalthea has participated in numerous events and musical productions in Valencia and has toured Spain, Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary. This evening, the last country participated in three editions of the prestigious International Monteverdi Choir Festival in Esztergom-Vác-Budapest, in 2002, 2005 and 2011.

Among his most notable projects are the production of Mozart's Don Giovanni, participation in the absolute premiere of the opera Narayantan by Rafael Mira at the Ensems Festival and various productions at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia. These include the premiere of the oratorio Philistaei in Jonatha dispersi, with Octavio Dantone and Accademia Bizantina, as well as the operas Iphigenia in Tauride by Gluck, with Plácido Domingo, and Rossini's Italian in Algiers.

His career has been recognized with numerous awards. In 2022 won the First Prize and the Audience Prize in the III National Choral Competition for Medieval and Renaissance Music Arnotegui. In 2023 won Second Prize in the Fira de Tots Sants de Cocentaina Choral Competition and, in 2024, Second Prize in the XXI Antonio José de Burgos National Choral Competition.

CORAL JOVE DEL CONSERVATORI DE SANT CUGAT

The Youth Choir of the Conservatory of Sant Cugat was founded in 2018, giving continuity to the existing choral line in the same conservatory of Sant Cugat del Vallès and is made up of singers from among 20 and 25 years old, students or former students of the conservatory.

His recent achievements include: first prizes in the “52nd Ejea de los Caballeros Choral Competition” in 2026, in the “XXII Antonio José National Choral Competition (Burgos)" in 2025, in the “III City of Granada Choral Contest” in 2025, in the "II Choral Contest of Binissalem" in 2023 and in the “Villa de Avilés Choral Competition” in the editions of 2022 and 2018.

The Choir regularly performs concerts in the conservatory and in nearby towns.. She has been invited to perform in the Sacred Music Cycle of the Monastery of Sant Cugat, in the Academy of Fine Arts from Sabadell, in it Small Palace of Music, in the Church of Pi in Barcelona, ​​in the Music Cycle of the UB and in the main hall of the URV of Tarragona. The choir has recently been invited to the 12th international reencuentro of Persian youth choirs (France).

In 2024, The conservatory's choral project has won the Maria Teresa Giménez Award for the promotion of young choral singing.

AURUM

Founded on 2012, Aurum is the female choir of LDO project. It is made up of women from 15 participate, many of which have been part of the children's choir Peques LDO or currently sing in the mixed choir LDO. The rest of the members share a deep passion for choral music.

Born with the aim of laying a bridge between the children's choir and the adult, Aurum has evolved to become a coral formation with its own identity and reference in the national and international scene, Thanks to its innovative proposal and its high artistic quality.

The choir is distinguished by its constant search for sound excellence, by exploration of wide vocal and aesthetic diversity. In addition, Aurum undertakes to establish an emotional bond with the public, through carefully designed programs for each occasion, capable of generating a unique and memorable experience.

FERRUM

Directed by Marco A. Garcia de Paz, Ferrum is the male bass choir of the Golden Lion Project. Initially founded at the end of 2019 and paralyzed by the pandemic, reborn in 2024 with the purpose of enriching the choral palette of the project and reinforcing its formative dimension. His work focuses on the interpretation of repertoire for equal voices, both classic and contemporary, exploring the richness and depth of the low register.

In 2024 won Second Prize in the San Vicente de la Barquera Sailor Song Contest and participated in the opening concert of the season 2024/2025 from The Golden Lion. In 2025 won the First Prize of the 51st
Ejea Choral Competition, in addition to the “David Tellechea” Popular Award, awarded by the public. This recognition gave him access to 26 National Choral Singing Grand Prize 2026.
With the passion for choral music as a driving force, Ferrum develops its own distinctive sound, in line with the search for artistic excellence that defines the El León de Oro Project.

CORO NUBAH

Nubah Choir, directed by Alberto Palacín, is a choral project established in Granada and made up of more than thirty young people passionate about choral music, whose objective is to develop a choir of high artistic and cultural value.

His artistic proposal covers a wide repertoire, from the Renaissance to contemporary creations, and is characterized by the search for new scenic and musical languages. Among his most representative projects are “Dhimmah Hispánica: “Songs of coexistence in medieval Iberia”, proposal that revisits music and texts from the three cultures from the perspective of young Andalusian composers, and “Friend of the wind”, a tribute to the life of Federico García Lorca that links tradition and innovation.
Nubah Choir combines artistic excellence, training dimension and dissemination vocation, becoming an ambassador of the Andalusian youth choral movement.

Nuria Fernandez Herranz


Born in Donostia in 1973, His activity focuses on composition and teaching, mainly in the subjects of Musical Language and Choir and in her functions as deputy director of the Francisco Escudero Professional Conservatory of Music in San Sebastián, Spain.

Very involved in the Basque choral scene, She is currently the president of the Confederation of Choirs of the Basque Country.

Regarding your activity outside the Basque Country, Eva Ugalde is regularly invited as a member of the jury in national and international composition competitions..

Josep Robert Sellés i Camps

Es director de coro y orquesta, además de compositor, con una trayectoria destacada en el ámbito de la música coral y sinfónica. Licenciado “With Distinction ” en Dirección de Orquesta por la Royal Schools of Music de Londres, también posee los títulos superiores de Dirección de Coros y Guitarra, habiendo obtenido el Premio Extraordinario en ambas especialidades.

Su formación en composición incluye estudios con Javier Darias y Amando Blanquer, ampliados con figuras como Luis de Pablo, Cristóbal Halffter y José Luis Turina, inter alia. Además de su formación musical, es Diplomado en Ciencias Empresariales por la Universidad de Alicante y ha completado el Máster en Estética y Creatividad Musical por la Universidad de Valencia. A lo largo de su carrera, ha dirigido diversas agrupaciones, recogiendo importantes premios en certámenes nacionales e internacionales. Al frente del Cor de Cambra Discantus, ha conseguido galardones como el Primer Premio absoluto en el Certamen Internacional de Habaneras y Polifonía de Torrevieja, además del premio “José Hodar” a la mejor dirección. También ha sido director de la Sociedad Ateneu Musical Contestana, obteniendo la Mención de Honor en el Certamen Internacional de Bandas Ciudad de Valencia.

As a composer, ha sido reconocido con premios como el “José Alarcón 2024”, el “Manuel Parada 2017”, el Premio de Composición Coral Matilde Salvador y el Primer Premio en el Concurso
de Composición de la Federación de Coros de la Comunidad Valenciana (FECOCOVA) , consolidando
su aportación al repertorio coral. Es el Director Artístico del Certamen Coral Fira de Tots Sants en Cocentaina, uno de los concursos corales con mayor trayectoria del panorama nacional y por donde han pasado las mejores entidades del país. Este concurso forma parte del Gran Premio Nacional de Cant Coral.


Ha sido jurado en prestigiosos certámenes corales nacionales e internacionales, como el Certamen
Internacional de Habaneras y Polifonía de Torrevieja, Candas, Royals, Cocentaina or Novelda, así
como en concursos de composición en Alcoy, Callosa d’en Sarrià y la propia FECOCOVA.
En el ámbito pedagógico, ha sido profesor de dirección coral en los cursos de la Federación de Corazones de la Comunidad Valenciana (FECOCOVA) y es el fundador y director de ARSIS MUSIC 21,innovador proyecto formativo para coralistas y directores. At the moment, es director del Cor de Cambra Discantus y de la Agrupación Vocal Eduardo Torres de Albaida, manteniendo un firme
compromiso con la difusión y evolución del canto coral.

Montserrat Rios Hevia

Nacida en Tarragona se inicia en el mundo musical gracias a su padre, el cantante tarraconense Bernardo Rios. Realiza estudios de guitarra y canto en el Conservatorio de Tarragona con Isabel Bargalló y Dolors Aldea. También fue alumna de Eduardo Sainz de la Maza.
Cantando en el Coro Aleluia de Tarragona, descubrió su pasión por el canto coral y realiza cursos de iniciación organizados por el Orfeó Lleidatà que van
culminar con los estudios superiores de canto coral realizados en el Conservatorio Superior de Ginebra con el maestro Michel Corboz. Paralelamente realiza cursos de dirección de orquesta en Francia e Italia con Ernst Schelle y Jacques Bodmer.


In 1991 crea la coral de la Universidad Rovira i Virgili con el que ha participado en concursos nacionales e internacionales.


Since 1996 a 2002 es la directora titular de la coral Cármina de Barcelona, ​​coro colaborador de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya. Joan Company

(St. John, Mallorca) es reconocido como el director fundador de la Coral Universidad de las Islas Baleares (1977-2023), la cual ha dirigido ininterrumpidamente durante 46 años y con la que consiguió importantes reconocimientos artísticos tanto en las Islas como en la península y en el extranjero. Cabe destacar: la creación de las corales filiales (diez agrupaciones); premios en importantes concursos corales (Toulouse, Atenas…); actuaciones en las principales salas de concierto de España y en importantes festivales de Europa y de América; colaboraciones con las orquestas más importantes de España y Europa; grabaciones discográficas; divulgación del patrimonio coral de las Islas…; con el grupo Poema Harmónico -coral filial de la Coral UIB- realizó la grabación de la Misa de Pau Villalonga (+1609), primer Maestro de Capilla de la Catedral de Mallorca.

Licenciado en Historia General, estudió dirección coral con P. Cao, M. Cabero y O. Martorell. Profesor de música de instituto (siendo el número 1 de su promoción, 1985). Fundó la Partituroteca y Centro de Documentación Musical de la UIB y también fue fundador, director y profesor de los Cursos Internacionales de Música de la UIB (1977) y de las Colonias Musicales de Verano en Baleares (1995). Ha publicado, en libros, enciclopedias y revistas especializadas, numerosos estudios y artículos sobre música y músicos de Baleares. También ha colaborado con instituciones musicológicas españolas y extranjeras.

Rafael Sánchez Mombiedro

Studied Piano, Harmony, Counterpoint, Composition and Direction of Choirs, obteniendo Premios de Honor en Armonía y Composición. Amplió sus estudios de Dirección Coral con Carl Hofgset, Corina Campos and José Manuel Tife, and those of Composition with Antón García Abril.


He has extensive experience as a choir director.. Fundó el Orfeón “Manuel Palau”, with which he won awards in Torrevieja and Avilés, y fue, asimismo, director titular del Coro Universitario “Sant Yago” of Valencia.
